ROSE PARADE 2007 - Gypsy Horse Group's Second Appearance
Rose Parade, gypsy horse
Group Marshall, Mary Lou Fahrlender on the wonderful mare, Miniver

Rose Parade

Our mare, Miniver was spectacular representing the breed in the 2007 Rose Parade!

Gypsy Horses were in the 118th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, January 1, 2007.  The six members of the Gypsy Horse Group were led by Marshall Mary Lou Fahrlender, from Desert Winds Gypsy Horses, in Phelan, California.  Christy Reich from Windy Hill Ranch in CA, Jeff and Chris Bartko from Black Forest Shires and Gypsy Horses also rode in the parade. This was the second time these members of the group have ridden in the Rose Parade. We were happy to welcome our newest members, Stephanie Clark, from Harlequin Farms in Acton, California, and Kim Oest,  from Colorado.

I wore a light blue medieval costume and rode our mare, Miniver.   Stephanie Clark wore a dark blue and silver medieval costume and rode her mare, Halcyon.  Christy Reich wore a green medieval costume and green cape as she rode her gelding, Eddie. Jeff and Chris Bartko,  and Kim Oest, all wore gypsy costumes.  Jeff rode his gelding, Rom Baro, Chris rode her mare, Dinah, and Kim rode Babydoll.      The weather was absolutely wonderful this year.  The sun was shinning and the temperatures were in the upper 60’s.  All the horses were so well behaved and actually seemed to enjoy the crowds and all the excitement.  As usual, the horses were a hit all along the five and a half mile parade route.
